Summer Night Art Walk

We are thrilled to announce we will be hosting TWO local artists this year for the Summer Night Art Walk, which will be held on Friday, June 17^th from 6-9:30. We will have our very own AuburnArt.com, employee, Lara West. Lara will have Auburn jewelry and tie dye t-shirts available for purchase. We will also have Molly McDonald from The Darling Dog Portrait Co. Molly will have original Aubie paintings for sell and of course, her specialty, painting adorable portraits of your very own pet!

As well as producing 5 million rolls daily, Barnes serves Auburn University as a visiting executive in the Lowder School of Business, a member of the Women’s Philanthropy Board and a member of the Dean’s Board of the College of Human Sciences. She is the Culinary Ambassador for the state of Alabama, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame.

In 2004 with the encouragement of her mother, Chrissie opened her own bakery business, Chrissie Schubert’s Homemade Treats. Chrissie’s Auburn cookies include designs of Samford Hall, tigers, crosses and Auburn daisies. She will also be debut a line of granola products new to AuburnArt.com.

Members of the AIAS will be carving Auburn themed pumpkins in the window of our downtown location on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The pumpkins will be sold, with all profits donated to the AIAS.

The event will serve as a preview for the 22^nd annual College of Architecture, Design, and Construction Pumpkin Carve that will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 in the Dudley Courtyard at Auburn University.

“The Pumpkin Carve has grown from a small student competition to a community event that attracts hundreds of people,” noted Dean Bennett, dean of Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design, & Construction. “Each year visitors are amazed at the traditional Halloween and current event themes that are used by our students in their designs for the Pumpkin Carve.”

Not only has Vesko’s talented work been a wonderful addition to AuburnArt.com’s collection, but his journey as a photographer is unique in itself. Vesko met his wife, Kalina, in 2002 and the two married in 2005. It was not until their first child, Ellie, was born that he discovered his passion for photography. Vesko wanted a camera that could capture every special moment he had with Ellie. This sparked his interest in photography.

He began taking pictures of his child as well as “everything around him” in Auburn and Opelika, Ala. After a year of “happy clicking” the owner of AuburnArt.com saw one of Vesko’s pictures, a sidewalk perspective of  AuburnArt.com’s Christmas window.  After admiring Vesko’s work, our owner asked Vesko to become one of AuburnArt.com’s photographers.  Click Here to see Vesko’s entire collection of Auburn pieces

Russell brings his work to life by using a combination of watercolor and acrylic paints.  Rather than using a primed canvas, Russell applies the bright watercolors and textured acrylics to a special watercolor canvas that is thinner than most canvases and has the ability of absorbing water based mediums to hold vibrant colors.

Every time I go to Auburn I always want to go to AuburnArt.com. It is my favorite store in Auburn! I love all of the jewelry and beautiful paintings. I like all of your products, and I think it is a great store. Some of my favorite items that you carry at AuburnArt.com are the Pete the Cat prints. We have some pictures of Pete the Cat at my house and I love them! I think they are cute and hilarious! The Toomer’s Lemonade candles also smell amazing, and my entire family likes them. Finally, another one of my favorites has to be all of the pretty paintings in the store. When I go to college, I hope to go to Auburn and work at AuburnArt.com. War Eagle VI, Tiger, has been at Auburn University since 1986. Tiger made her first free flight at the Wyoming game on Aug. 31, 2000. She captivated thousands of fans before many Auburn games until the 2006 Georgia game, when she made her last stadium flight and retired. While at AuburnArt.com, fans can learn more about Tiger and the Southeastern Raptor Center during an educational session that allows fans to ask questions and interact with trainer Roy Crowe.

“Any place we can capture a crowd’s attention for an educational encounter is an appropriate partnership for the Raptor Center,” said Roy Crowe, the raptor education specialist and eagle consultant at the Southeastern Raptor Center. “AuburnArt.com is a location full of people who already have an interest in the eagle because of the flights in Jordan-Hare stadium. This venue is as captivating as they come.”

AuburnArt.com will be selling raffle tickets with all proceeds benefitting the Southeastern Raptor Center to contribute to its mission of rehabilitation, education and research. First prize will be a shadowbox that includes a photograph of Spirit, Auburn’s American Bald Eagle. Also included in the framed piece are the leather jesses worn on Spirit’s legs for the 2009 49-24 Auburn victory against Mississippi State University. Other prizes from the raffle will include a $100 and $50 gift certificate to AuburnArt.com. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased in-store and online at www.AuburnArt.com. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win the raffle.

After the educational encounter with Tiger, fans will have the opportunity to meet Auburn football star Ben Tate. Tate completed an impressive career at Auburn with four 100-yard rushing games, including one 150-yard rushing game. Wearing number 44, Tate rushed for 1,362 yards in his final season at Auburn, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history. He finished his career at Auburn with a total of 3,321 rushing yards, ranking him fifth in career rushing yards for Auburn.

AuburnArt.com will provide fans with photos to be autographed by Tate. “I am excited to be partnered with AuburnArt.com for A-Day, where I will be able to meet and interact with some of my most loyal fans,” said Tate. Limit one autograph per person in attendance.

AuburnArt.com has planned many activities for the 2010 A-Day celebration. “My brother called me on February 13th and told me to expect two dozen of my favorite flowers, lilies, on February 14th. In high anticipation of my flowers, I sat at home all day waiting for them. At 3:30, the doorbell rang. I was so excited and opened the door only to see one dozen carnations from my ex-boyfriend whom I had gotten a restraining order against 7 months before. The card read, “For the love of my life, please forgive me. Love, your honey bunches of oats.” Gag! If that wasn’t enough, I had to keep the note for evidence! Happy Valentine’s Day to me! :(” –D.M.
